Professional Engineer Volunteer –

The Mile High Flood District is governed by a 23-member board of directors consisting of 21 elected officials and two board-appointed professional engineers. These professional engineers each serve two year terms and are typically reappointed at the end of each term indefinitely until they choose to retire from the board. With one of our professional engineer directors retiring from our board at the end of January 2023, we are seeking a replacement, beginning in February 2023.

Our board meets 6 to 8 months per year on the third Thursday of each month. The meetings begin at 1:00 pm and typically run for two hours or less. The two professional engineer directors additionally meet with staff at 11:30 am before each board meeting. There is a token stipend per board meeting attended, and lunch is provided.
The successful candidate must:

  • Possess and maintain current professional engineering licensure (civil preferred) in Colorado,
  • Live and be a registered voter within the District Boundary,
  • Not be an officer nor an employee of any public body,
  • Not be a director, officer, partner, employee, nor consultant for a business doing or seeking to do business with MHFD, and
  • Commit to the best of their ability to attend all board meetings.

Additional, the successful candidate should be supportive of and familiar with the District, its mission, vision, core values, the work it does, and the value it brings to the community.

If you are interested in this important opportunity to volunteer your time to give back to your community, please send a resume and cover letter to Amelia Deleon, Human Resources Director, at adeleon@mhfd.org by Friday, December 12, 2022 COB.
